As a ceramic artist Sun Yue creates sculptures in vary dimensions with clay. Sun committed with the most aboriginal technique—coil building to create diverse contemporary structures in term of pottery. Carrying on the background of Fashion Design BFA and Fine Arts MFA, Sun realized the internal connection between the process of pottery making and the garment draping, as both of the methods are transforming soft, formless materials into structural, hollowed sculptures. Embedded with the notion of the process, Sun’s hand-building is welcoming any accidental ideas and inspirations from her subconscious to participate in the discourse between her hands and clay. Sun’s works are challenging the boundary of traditional pottery making, and bringing in some fresh concepts about everyday lifestyle. Her works has been included in several exhibitions throughout the New York area. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Parsons School of Design. In 2018 she found Key- Craft Pottery Studio in Beijing, currently lives and works in Hangzhou, China.
